CROCHET DISHCLOTH

Materials

  • DMC Traditions 100% Mercerized Crochet Cotton Thread

  • Thread Size 10

  • Crochet Hook Size D

  • Finished size of Dishcloth 10” X 11”

Stitches Used

  • CH = Chain

  • SC = Single Crochet

  • DC = Double Crochet

  • SK = Skip next stitch

  • SP = Space.

  • SL ST = Slip Stitch

  • * = Repeat from * to *

Begin = Chain 76 +CH 2

(Total 78 in CH. The last 2 will be your first DC for your return)

Keep in mind your beginning CH will determine the size so if you want it larger CH more , smaller CH less. Keep it even numbers so the pattern comes out correct.

  • Row 1 - DC in 2nd CH from hook. DC in each CH across.

  • Row 2 – CH 2 (Counts as first DC), DC in next DC. *CH 1, SK 1, DC in next 2 DC*. Repeat from * across. Be sure that you go into your last CH 2 from previous row.

  • Row 3 - CH 2 (Again counts as first DC throughout Dishcloth), DC in next DC. *CH 1, SK1,DC in next 2 DC*. Repeat from * across. Again making sure that you go into the last CH 2 of previous row.

  • Row 4 – CH 2, DC in next DC, * DC in CH 1 SP, DC in next 2 DC*. Repeat across from * across.

  • Row 5 – CH 2, DC in 2nd DC, DC in each DC across.

  • Row 6 & 7 – CH 2, DC in 2nd DC, *CH 1, SK 1, DC in next 2 DC*, Repeat from * across.

  • Row 8 – CH 2, DC in next DC, *DC in CH 1 SP, DC in next 2 DC*, repeat from * across.

  • Row 9 – CH 2, DC in next DC, DC in each DC across.

  • Row 10 to Row 31 – Repeat Row 5 through Row 9.

  • Row 32 – CH 2, DC in the 2nd DC and in each DC across.

You can tie it off here and be done or you can add the following Border.

Border – (Optional)

Working down the left side of the Dishcloth, 3 DC in corner, 2 DC on the side of each DC of previous row.

 3 DC in corner.

SL ST next stitch and tie off.

Attach to the right side of Dish cloth and repeat what you just did on the left side.

Tie off and you are done.

Tami’s Comments

I really enjoy making this Dishcloth. Making it goes by really quick. I run my family members to the Doctors a lot. This is a small project that you can take anywhere. I have made this for several Family members and friends. They really like it. Because of the type of thread that I use, it gives the dishcloth a ruff texture. This helps to get those tough stuck on food particles off the dishes. Be sure and try to experiment. I have included 2 pictures where I used two different contrasting colors.

The following is the same on all pages and if you have already read it, you need not bother reading it again.

My daughter has Cerebral Palsy. I do not say this for sympathy. I have created a site devoted to helping people with disabilities find resources they need to navigate DSHS, DDD, SSI and others including the school system. What I need from you is to let people with disabilities know of the site and get them to send me information of their local and State agencies that fulfill the needs of the disabled. I want to make this information available to all for free on my site. I just need the help of either a person with a child having cerebral palsy or any disability or a concerned person who can donate their time to help seek out this information of advocacy groups for the disabled.

I am spending what time and resources I have but I need help.

Through having to take our daughter to therapy and doctors appointments we have come to know many parent's of children with Cerebral Palsy. In the course of our attempts to advocate for our daughter and upon hearing of the same troubles others have had doing the same we decided to use some web space and try to do something about it. We want very much to be able to provide relevant information for every locality across the country so that people seeking information do not have to spend days in search of the information they need. We would welcome any help you could give us. Any links you can supply for either .gov's or private agencies that provide for or advocate for the Disabled would be appreciated. We would like to break them down by Federal, State, County, City and Schools. Please visit  www.cpfsn.org and see if there is anything you can contribute to grow the site into a useful and relevant site for people with disabilities specially those with Children who have Cerebral Palsy.
